1. Modernising an ORLIK 2012 Pitch

The modernization of “Orlik 2012” complexes is currently one of the priorities in sports infrastructure investments in Poland.
More than a decade after the launch of the “My Pitch – Orlik 2012” program, hundreds of municipalities have gained modern sports facilities.
Today, however, many of them require renovation and restoration of full functionality – especially in the area of locker room and sanitary facilities, which in many places have already become worn out.

In response, the government is running a modernisation programme for Orlik facilities for 2024–2027. In the 2024 edition, PLN 200 million was allocated for this purpose, and in 2025 the plan is to modernise 377 sports complexes nationwide with a budget of approx. PLN 144.65 million. Co-funding can cover up to 70% of investment costs, enabling municipalities to effectively carry out repairs and upgrades. The programme aims to revitalise facilities so they can continue to serve as open, safe and accessible places for local communities to be active.

3. Recommended Locker Room Container Models for Orlik 2012 Pitch Modernisation

Based on our experience in designing locker and sanitary facilities, we have developed several sample layouts that work best for the modernization of Orlik 2012 sports fields. Below we present three variants differing in size and functionality – from compact sets to large complexes for heavily used facilities. These layouts comply with the typical requirements of Orlik-type public tenders.

The set consists of two independent locker rooms, each with its own sanitary facilities. It’s a cost-effective option that provides essential functionality and year-round use.

Note that this variant does not include a public restroom or extra rooms such as a storage area or a coach’s room.

The most universal layout, most frequently appearing in Orlik 2012 modernisation projects.

The set includes two locker rooms with bathrooms, two toilets (e.g., female and male) and two multipurpose rooms that can serve as storage or coach/referee rooms. The entire facility is designed for year-round use and rapid installation.

Thanks to its flexibility and compliance with tender requirements, the KSZ 4.4.1 layout is the most commonly chosen solution by municipalities and schools modernising their Orlik 2012 pitches.

Locker and Sanitary Container Set (KSZ 3.6)

The largest set presented is a comprehensive solution for large sports facilities and municipal sports centres.

It consists of two spacious locker rooms (each in a two-module configuration), separate sanitary rooms for each team, a coach/referee room with a private toilet, and an accessible toilet for persons with disabilities. Depending on needs, this accessible toilet can be converted into a sports equipment storage room.

This option is designed for facilities with intensive use that require extensive back-of-house.

4. Technical Specification of Containers for Orlik 2012 Pitches

Locker and sanitary containers intended for Orlik modernisation are designed for intensive use, durability and year-round comfort. Below are the key technical parameters. The specification meets public utility requirements and standards expected in Orlik modernisations.

Construction

Robust frame made of closed steel profiles. Welded, anti-corrosion protected. Designed for heavy use and long service life.

Walls and roof

Sandwich panels with PIR core providing high thermal insulation for comfort in both winter and summer.

Floor

Based on trapezoidal steel sheets and a steel frame for durability and stability. The insulation layer is PIR, finished with OSB and PVC flooring with skirting—ensuring aesthetics and easy cleaning.

Doors and windows

Doors – steel, solid, resistant to heavy use, in both external and internal versions—ensuring security and durability in daily operation.

Tilt-and-turn PVC windows providing natural daylight and ventilation to improve user comfort.

Installations: electrical, plumbing and ventilation

Containers include an electrical distribution board, 230 V sockets and energy-efficient LED lighting. A 400 V connection allows the whole facility to be connected to the grid without issues.

The water and sewage system is surface-mounted, simplifying service and potential upgrades, ensuring reliable operation and quick access when needed.

Natural (stack) ventilation with an option for mechanical ventilation ensures a constant supply of fresh air and user comfort regardless of occupancy.

Equipment

Locker and sanitary containers are delivered with complete equipment enabling immediate use. As standard, they include electric heaters, water heaters and full sanitary fit-out: WCs, urinals, shower cabins and washbasins with taps—ready for intensive operation and user comfort.

Optionally, containers can be equipped with air conditioning, an accessible toilet, and other extras—as required.
